As promised, the how to video on changing the oil on your Softail Deluxe! With the icy weather and frozen streets were dealing with again riding is pretty much out of the question. Although I did see a guy riding this past week on the freeway while it was snowing and ice patches on the road. That's hard core if hes riding for any length of time. Not my thing though. Wind chill temps can tear right through you and make for miserable riding. There was a short break in the weather this weekend but I contracted a bit of the Flu and spent the entire weekend drinking vegetable juice and soup to get better. Fortunately I had the video of changing the oil on Margaret's bike completed to be able to use for this weeks post.
We have some ideas on practical videos which we will be exploring as the temperature warms up. I am getting positive responses from the videos and figured we could post more that might help people begin performing basic maintenance on their bikes and saving some money. The previous posts with pictures on maintenance are good but the video of the processes is much better. Other tips like how to install grips are in my mind as well. I did do one video on that topic which seemed to go over well but it was buried in with a Fort Worth HOG Chapter event so it doesn't show well on a topic search in the blog. That one will probably be a re-post in the near future. Another idea from last summer was about how to install Saddlebag Guards on a Street Glide. We videoed it but for some reason I never put the clips together. I started thinking that it might encourage someone to install parts themselves and save a lot of money from dealership installation charges.
Again with this post I will not include the cost break down. Here is the link again for the cost breakdown and savings: How to Change the Oil on a Harley Davidson Street Glide. The basic process is the same as with the Street Glide. The only differences are in the oil fill amounts for each of the different holes.
